In the Tenderloin, Signs of Pride

Walking to work this morning, I noticed these banners have suddenly appeared on the light posts up and down my street. They note the neighborhood is now a historic district, with 409 registered historic building in the 33 blocks that comprise the Tenderloin. That's a cheery way to show some local pride, but knowing some of the buildings that made the cut, the criteria must be pretty low- as in still-standing with 4 walls and a door. They get a nice little plaque to hang outside.

Still, the TL is a very distinct part of the City and I'm all for any and all positive signs in the neighborhood.

  1. Wow, just read this. What makes your blog so interesting, is that it comes only about a day before my Facebook rant about these signs. Strange we noticed and wrote about it around the same time.
